Port Antonio, Jamaica

The town of Port Antonio is situated just north of the Blue Mountains on the north eastern coast of Jamaica. Many visitors like to visit the mountains and highlands just to see some of the best scenery in the country.

Port Antonio is located in the parish of Portland and it one of the rainiest and greenest parishes in Jamaica. It is also known for its many rivers and waterfalls. Port Antonio is a perfect getaway from the daily qualms of life, and there are many people who come here trying to get the best rooms in the few luxurious hotels.

The Hollywood film Cocktail, was filmed here and much of the town is a verdant and sleepy seaport. You also get a traditional Jamaican feeling here as people shop, talk and laugh their way around. Some also play dominoes, banging the pieces on the table loudly.

There is a lot to do in Port Antonio, you can enjoy your day at the local markets buying craftworks, spices, and fruits or you can just relax and take in the day as it happens.

Errol Flynn is much loved and admired in Jamaican. He use to own Navy Island and the long-gone Titchfield Hotel, he also integrated well into this community. Some locals here remember Flynn for his womanizing and drinking.

Port Antonio has some of the best beaches in Jamaica and is a great retreat compared with the busier life in towns like Ocho Rios or Montego Bay. Port Antonio is also a hub for the best deep-sea fishing in the Caribbean. The opening Port Antonio Marina has seen an influx of many luxury yachts.

Port Antonio is a great place for a relaxing holiday. It does not matter if you are just an average person or movie star, the locals will always welcome you here with open arms.

I’ve had an idea, for our next group trip we should book up some time at one of those ski hotels that Gene suggested to us. I think I could probably sort out a deal if you guys would be up for it!
