Sunny Perth and surrounds

Australia is definitely a place that comes to mind when sunny destinations are mentioned, but if you plan to travel there, bear in mind that Australia is an extremely large country with a variety of different weather zones. Some places, such as Brisbane and Darwin, are warmer than southern cities such as Melbourne and Hobart. However, when looking for sunny places to visit, make sure you don’t overlook the Western Australian capital of Perth. Situated along the stunning Swan River, Perth is a beautiful city that’s known for its love of boating and all things outdoors. Head into Fremantle and visit the markets and the famous prison, and travel up to Subiaco to enjoy the cafe culture. There are a number of amazing white-sand beaches, including the famous Cottesloe, too. If this isn’t enough for you, try traveling down to the Margaret River region, which is known primarily for its wine, and which boasts chocolate, cheese, and fudge factories. There are also a variety of limestone caves that can be explored in the area, including Jewel, Lake, and Mammoth caves, all of which are stunning in their own light. If you’re traveling in this area around Christmas time, though, make sure you bring insect repellant, as the flies, or ’blowies’, will be out in full force. If you have time to travel up north, the tiny town of New Norsia is an interesting tourist destination. Australia’s only monastic town, New Norsia was founded and is owned entirely by the Catholic church. Travelling another 500 or so kilometers north will also take you to the famous independent sovereign state of Hutt River, where you can get your passport stamped.
